Halcyon Hotels: the uniform that stopped feeling like one.
A lobby in sage velvet and linen, staffed in a black polyester polo from a uniform catalog.
What guests met at the front desk
Halcyon spends on interiors, with hand-thrown ceramics and linen on everything in a lobby palette of sage and cream. Then a guest reached the front desk and met a shiny black polo from a uniform catalog. Staff photos stayed out of the marketing, and the head of people kept a folder of exit interviews that used the word scratchy. The brief asked for staff apparel that belongs in the room and survives a hotel laundry twice a week.
The palette came from the lobby.
We started from photographs of the lobby and took two colors from them, the sage of the velvet seating and the cream of the plaster walls. The hoodie is 330 GSM fleece in cream, with Halcyon's mark embroidered small at the chest, and the caps pick up the sage. Thread outlives the garment, which matters when the garment goes through an industrial wash twice a week.
Each role gets its own garment. The front desk wears piqué polos and housekeeping wears tees, with the hoodie for evening shifts when the lobby cools and the cap on the pool deck. Every role wears the same two colors, which lets a guest read one team from the valet stand to check-in.
The Concierge Collection by role
The hoodie's figure is the garment alone. Its cream wordmark is stitched, and we send the price for that within one business day. The other three start at the price shown with one printed or vinyl mark. Every piece went out sleeved with a staff member's name, and each property keeps a stock of unnamed spares for day-one hires. The design and the size history stay on file with us, and outfitting a new front-desk hire now takes one email.
