Custom Logo Hats: Caps and Beanies for Teams
A cap with a printed front is $10.85, and we price embroidered caps and the beanie in one business day. Both are one size, so neither needs size collection, and either fits a padded envelope. This guide picks between them, sizes the logo for the front panel and prices an order at 50 and 150.
Hats get treated as an afterthought because they're the cheapest line on the order. That's backwards, because the cap is in every headshot, group photo and video call, and a badly stitched or oversized mark there is the most visible mistake in the collection.
We make two, a structured cap and a cuffed beanie, both one size. Each takes embroidery or DTF, the cap also takes vinyl, and either can carry a sewn-on patch.
How the structured cap and the beanie compare
| The Cap, from $10.85 | The Beanie, priced in one business day | |
|---|---|---|
| Build | Heavy cotton twill, structured 6-panel, mid profile, pre-curved brim, adjustable strap with an engraved metal buckle | Acrylic-blend 12-gauge knit, fleece-lined band, cuffed |
| Decoration | Flat or 3D embroidery, DTF or vinyl on the front panel, or a sewn-on patch | Embroidery on the cuff, a DTF-printed label patch, or a sewn-on patch |
| Season | Year-round, and anywhere the sun is out | October to March, and cold sites all year |
| Reads as | Field crew, booth, summer event | Winter, gift, streetwear |
| Programs | Onboarding kits, booth staff, and field and logistics crews in summer | Holiday gift drops, winter offsites, and outdoor and cold-storage crews |
Structured means the front panels are backed so the crown holds its shape empty, and it looks the same in the photo as on the shelf. Mid profile sits between the tall trucker crown and the flat slouch, which suits most heads. The cap fits 54 to 61 cm, and the beanie is one size and deep enough to cover ears fully.
Flat or 3D embroidery on a cap
Caps take two kinds of stitch, and the shape of the logo tells you which.
- Flat embroidery goes straight onto the twill in a raised satin stitch. It carries detail such as a crest or thin lettering, in up to 12 thread colors, and lettering needs to be 5 mm or taller.
- 3D embroidery stitches over a foam layer so the mark stands off the panel. It wants bold shapes like a heavy wordmark, a single letter or a solid icon. Fine detail sinks into the foam, so the 3D version is the simplified logo in one color.
We price cap embroidery, flat or 3D, in one business day. If the logo is thick letters, go 3D, and if it has a picture or thin parts, go flat. Summit Fitness runs a white 3D mark on a coral cap and the same mark as a label patch on a coral beanie. It works on both because it's one shape in one color. Stitch specs for both are on the embroidery service page.
DTF panels and label patches
Thread is the default on headwear, but two cases call for print, and a sewn-on patch is a third option on caps and beanies both.
DTF on the cap's front panel is for a logo that won't simplify: a gradient, a photographic mark, more than 12 colors, lettering under 5 mm. The film is pressed flush to the twill with no raised texture, and it reads like a retail graphic cap. It's rated for 50-plus washes, which on a cap is years. On a cap the print fee is $2.02, which takes the $8.83 cap to $10.85. Vinyl suits a one- or two-color mark and brings it to $11.86.
The beanie label patch solves a different problem. Knit is a poor surface for print, so we print the artwork onto a label and sew the label to the cuff. It looks like the patch on a retail beanie and holds full color. For a tonal, minimal mark, embroider straight onto the cuff instead. The DTF service page covers what the print can and can't do.
Logo size on a 6-panel front should be smaller than you think.
The two front panels meet at a center seam and curve away on both sides, so a mark that fills the panel looks oversized at arm's length.
- Wordmarks sit centered on the seam, with letters 5 mm or taller for embroidery and twill showing on both sides of the mark.
- Icons and monograms go in the center, or a touch left of the seam for a retail look.
- Stacked logos get split, with the icon on the front and the wordmark on the back arch above the strap.
- Second marks go on the back arch or the left side panel, which both take a small embroidered mark such as a URL, a year or a department code.
You don't measure any of this. Upload the logo you have, a designer on our team resizes and simplifies it for the panel, and you approve it before production starts. Artwork prep is covered in the brand guidelines for merch.
Why one size makes hats easy to order
Hats are in nearly every team order for an operational reason. There are no sizes to collect, no wrong-size swaps and nothing to sort on arrival. Every piece still ships sleeved with the wearer's name, which makes a box of 50 caps 50 named packets. All of that makes a hat the right piece in three situations:
- People you haven't met. That covers new hires between cohorts, contractors on a site and volunteers at an event. To order more, tell us the number, because the design stays on file with us.
- Crossing 50 or 150. Because tiers count the whole mixed order, an order of 130 printed hoodies plus 20 printed caps prices everything at −22%. The hoodies alone would come to $2,740.40 at 12% off, and with the caps added the whole order is $2,598.90.
- Anything you mail. A cap or a beanie fits a padded envelope, which matters more than any spec for a remote team or a gift drop.
Seasonal programs for caps and beanies
Caps and beanies pair into a two-season program with no redesign. In spring it's embroidered caps in the primary color, and in October it's beanies with the mark on the cuff in the second colorway. The mark stays locked, and each season is a reorder of it. Event teams add a third beat, a printed cap in an event colorway for booth staff, which the booth apparel guide covers. For gift drops, the corporate gifting guide has timing and packaging.
What caps and beanies cost at 50 and 150
The printed cap is the hat with a published price, and it includes design and name-sleeved plastic-free packaging. Embroidered caps and the beanie are priced in one business day, as are patches. Cross 50 pieces and the whole order takes 12% off, and at 150 it takes 22% off.
| Order | Tier | Math | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 printed caps (minimum) | List | 15 at $10.85 | $162.75 |
| 50 printed caps | −12% | 50 at $9.55 | $477.50 |
| 50 caps, vinyl front | −12% | 50 at $10.44 | $522 |
| 150 printed caps | −22% | 150 at $8.46 | $1,269 |
| 150 beanies | −22% | Priced in one business day | On the quote |
| 50 printed caps + 100 beanies | −22% | 50 at $8.46, plus the beanies | $423 for the caps |
Per piece, a printed cap goes from $10.85 to $9.55 at 12% off and $8.46 at 22%, and a vinyl front goes from $11.86 to $10.44 at 50 pieces. Orders of 50 or more ship free, and on the 15-cap order the shipping is on the quote. A first order should start 8 to 10 weeks before you need the hats. Design and approval happen first, in the Design Studio, at whatever pace you set. After you approve the design, the hats are in production for three weeks and in shipping for two. A reorder starts at production, with no design stage before it. If you want to see a cap first, the sample set costs extra and takes about two weeks to reach you.

Questions we get.
Should a team order caps or beanies?
Order caps (from $10.85 with a printed front) for year-round programs and anything outdoors in daylight, and remember they're the most photographed piece in a kit. Order beanies for winter programs and gift drops from October to March. We price the beanie in one business day. Both are one size, so neither needs size collection, and many teams run both on a seasonal rotation.
What is the difference between flat and 3D embroidery on a cap?
Flat embroidery stitches straight onto the twill and carries detail such as crests and thin lettering, in up to 12 thread colors. 3D embroidery stitches over foam so the mark stands off the panel, which suits heavy wordmarks and loses fine detail. We price either one in one business day.
How big should a logo be on the front of a cap?
Smaller than the panel. A mark that fills the front looks oversized at arm's length because the panels curve away on both sides. Keep lettering 5 mm or taller for embroidery, leave twill showing on both sides of the mark, and let the designer confirm it before you approve the design.
How much do custom logo hats cost in bulk?
A cap with a DTF-printed front is $10.85, or $9.55 at 50 pieces and $8.46 at 150. Embroidered caps and beanies are priced in one business day, and so are patches. The thresholds count the whole mixed order, and the minimum is 15 pieces. For a smaller run, tell us what you have in mind.
